This story came form a RPG I am part of. The character is one I love to play and if we don’t play that certain set game I still come up with stories in my head for them. This is one such story.

Players:

Sharron- Tall red head woman who was/still is a powerful witch before she was embraced.

Onyx- The enforcer of the Prince, and BFF to Sharron.

Albert- Sharron’s mate.

Marlena- Prince of New Orleans and Albert’s Sirer.

“Do you really want to try and stop me!” Onyx heard Sharron’s voice from the hallway outside her door. She let the water front map roll back up as she went to the door, opening it just in time to see her friend using magic. Vampires are not suppose to be able to use magic but then…Sharron was always a little odd.

Sharron tighten her invisible hold on the guard’s throat, blocking off his air with just her mind, as he leaned against the wall, his hands going to his neck as he tried to suck in air with his open mouth. “Sharron! Stop it! I need all the guards tonight.” Onyx felt her own skin stop tingling and she knew Sharron had released the man.

The ghoul took his hands away from his neck as he took deep breaths, filling his lungs with air. Sharron walked by him, unfazed that she almost took a life. Onyx patted the man on the back and told him to keep a eye out.

She shut the door to have Sharron turn around, her long hair flying. “Where is Albert? I know something has happen to him?” “You can’t tell me?” Sharron had powers that many did not understand but Onyx knew she and he could call to each other. “I have tried- he is blocked or…or…” Sharron turned away, tears gather in her eyes.

“Look- I am not going to sugar coat this for you. Marlena and Albert limo was found about half a hour ago with the human driver and guard dead. Hunter was spotted carrying them to a van. I have the police looking for the van and the world on the street is a warehouse by the river front is way busy then normal with lot’s of people in black clothing. They sound like the hunters that we have had reports of.”

Sharron turned around and Onyx saw that the tears had been replaced with anger. “Hunters? They are with Hunter?!” “Look- I am not any more happy then you are about this. We don’t have time to blame me right now- these hunter drain the vampires they get hold off.” She watched as her friend’s face paled even more if that was possible. Sharron leaned against the desk, the idea of Albert lost to her more then she could take.

“I have the police on the way, all our ghouls and put a call out to all vampires…I was waiting for a phone call from the chief of police that they are ready. I will bring them out. But you have to know Sharron- they say these hunters are bulletproof. I don’t know if it is just rumor but they say they can not be harmed. Black magic is even been spoken of…” “Then I will go.” “Oh no you will not! All I need it my attention distracted by you to put this rescue off. No. You will stay at the hotel, locked up and safe.”

“I will go and you can ..” “NO!” Onyx walked around the desk and slam her hand on the French antique. “I will not have you in harm’s way. You are not a fighter. These people have powers that I will not put you up against, not when guns and hand to hand fighting is going on.”

Before Sharron could say anything the phone rung. Onyx grab at it like it was a snake and spoke harshly into it, telling the police chief to get his ass there now. She slam the phone down and grab her gun holster and bullet proof vest. “Sharron.. Stay here.” Sharron knew Onyx was right- that she would be distracted if she went. “I will stay here Onyx.”

Onyx should of seen the lie but she had her Prince and Albert to save and time was running out for them to come out of this. “Ok.. Then…” Onyx grab the maps and left the office, taking the guard with her. Sharron gave a smile, knowing she could track Onyx, filter what she was seeing enough to find her. But she would give her a head start first. Sharron sat down in the desk chair and closed her eyes to watch.

The warehouse door was blown apart, the air riddled with machine gun fire and smaller firearms. Onyx watched as another vampire took three shots to his head. Damn it… there had to be a way to stop these guys. She stood up from behind the crate and took two shots at the closest black clothed, black biker helmet man at the center of his helmet…to only duck back down as he returned the fire. Nothing. This small army is bulletproof.

She spotted a member of the swat team stand, throwing a small square item before he yelled “Fire in the hole!” The floor shocked and she heard yelling as the explosive went off. The temperature in the building raised as fires caught. She looked around the crate to see two of the hunters had been taken down, the rest standing and still laying down fire. God damn.. What the hell?

Then she felt it. A cool breeze came in by the blown hole in the warehouse metal doorway as she walked in. She stood, her jeans and pink sweater looking out of place in all the smoke, black clothing and blood. She looked straight at Onyx and smiled. Then a spark of light at her chest…and another one. Bullets. They was shooting at her? Onyx stood and laid down a spray of bullets from her Uzi. But she was quickly back on the floor as they returned fire.

Still none of the hunter went down. Like shields…wait… she looked over at Sharron and understood what the lights was- bullets hitting her own shield. She notice the burst of lights was coming more and more as the hunters tried to take her down. Sharron lowered her head, her long red hair flowing down to cover her face as her arms raised to her side. Onyx moved and others followed her as some of the hunters was busy with Sharron. She step into this war- Onyx could not worry about her now. Onyx tagged another vampire and order him up the metal stairway to the upper floor. If she had two vampires that is where she would hold them- in one of the many offices. He went, only to have his knee caps

shot. She watched as he went down, trying to get his shotgun up for a shot when the left side of his face was blown away with several shots from a submachine weapon. Red wetness splashed her in the face as she stood, letting her anger and frustration out with a squeeze of her own finger. The return bullets hit her in the chest, the vest taking the impact but for the two that hit her in the upper arm and side of the face.

She sat back down behind her cover, the bullets pinging off the metal sheet, as she touched her face. Another inch and it would of taken her whole jaw off. She had to stop and think… where was Sharron?

She turned to see her friend still in place by the door, but now she could hear something. Chanting? She is chanting? Now??!!

Sharron felt the bullets hit her shield like little stings of a bee. She needed to tap into the energy around her. Who ever was protection these hunters was here in the building and she needed to tap into his power. She was almost there…her chant in the words of old “Exideo potentia ortus, Exideo potentia ortus, Exideo potentia ortus.” As the source of the power was shown, the louder her chant grew. Several people stop to look at her as her chant carried across the building.

A wave of heat enclosed her shield and she open her eyes and looked up. Fire. Onyx picked up a steel pipe and charged the hunter who was using the flame thrower on Sharron. He turned toward her in the last few seconds and she felt the heat, knowing he had burned her. The steel pipe hit the flame thrower with no effort. She moved, using her inhuman speed and tried to jump onto his back to only have the shield block her. She ran for cover as he turned toward her… Sharron felt it then. That little string of power, hearing it in her mind “Take the woman out…the one at the door.” Like a computer virus she followed it back to the source and found what she needed. As he aimed toward Onyx, who had no cover to take, she used her own power to send energy to the weapon, breaking the seal on the fuel line. When he pushed the trigger it blew up in his hands.

Now to take it into her the power, to drain the hunter. She changed her chant, knowing this is where the danger started for her. The power was unlike any she had felt before…and in a way that he want it more. “Tribuo potentia ortus, Tribuo potentia ortus” the chant changed as she asked the gods to give her the power now. She closed her eyes again, lifted her head up and turned her palms upward. The energy hit her shield and she lowered them. She was aware of the bullets hitting her but now they was just little pings of sound in her head. That was quickly drown out as she absorbed the power.

Onyx watched as Sharron started to float upward, her left eye closed by the stinging painful burn on her face, the black shirt sleeve sticking to her burnt skin. She moved behind a full shelf, watching. The chant carried around the building, the heat from the air cooling, even the hot spots of her own skin was easing up. She looked around and saw fires going out. What was she doing?

Upper ward she floated on air, a glow building around her or white light. Then she stopped, her head tilted to the side, turning toward the offices to her right, then back upward as her chant changed. By this time the shots had stop as all watched her. “Capio potentia. Capio potentia. Capio! Capio!” Sharron called upon the darker gods- telling them to take the power for her. You could see her body jolt in midair as the glow grew brighter, then a gray, then a black light surrounded her. “CAPIO!” She lowered her head till she was looking straight ahead and Onyx was taken back by the shade of her green eyes, emerald color, glowing with power. Sharron brought her hands together with a quick slap of her palms “CAPIO!”

A wave of cool air blew thru the building, strong enough to make a few people step back to catch themselves. Then Sharron looked toward the office and started to float toward it. A hunter stood, taking shots at her. Onyx aimed with her good arm and took a few at him out of a pure instinctive. Everyone but Sharron watched as the man went down with two chest shots, letting a scream out in pain and shock.

Onyx step out from behind the shelf to make sure her eyes was not playing tricks… he was down and bleeding. A vampire landed on him, tearing at his neck as other hunter stood stun. But they did not stand long as those they had hunted turned into the hunter.

Sharron landed on the landing with a soft grace. She step toward the door as shouts of pain and shots started back up behind her. She used a wave of her hand and the office windows blew inward, the door busting open in front of her. She saw more then felt the shots from the two hunters before her. She held up a hand, pausing the bullets in mid air before turning them around and sending them back to them. Both feel before her as she floated above the bodies into the office.

There on two desk was her mate and Prince, tubes attached with a motor pumping blood into a container. She stop the motor with just a thought, the motor adding a smoking odor to the room that smelled of fresh blood. The man stood beside her mate, a stake in his hand, face showing signs of glass ripping into his face. “I will kill..” He said nothing more as his own hand involuntarily plunged the stake into his own stomach. He felt his body moving, being drag across the floor as she brought him to her, glass pieces being pushed aside on the floor. He felt the power of the dark energy lower as she took him close enough to grab his neck in her cold porcelain hand.

Those eyes… he had never seen that kind of power. How is it possible? A vampire witch? “You are only a channel of the power. I need to see who is the power. Let me see them.” As he hung from her hand a few inches off the floor, his blood pooling on the floor below him, she busted down all the shields he tried to put up, weak shields that she went thru like a cold wind till she reached what she wanted. More shields… not so weak came up but she had the power now. She could smell the blood and pulled on her vampire powers to bust past the last one.

In her eyes she did not see the man in front of her, the room she was in. She was standing in front of a large alter with three men in large carved chairs, torch lights lighting the windowless room. All three stood as she appeared. “Who are you?” One spoke- the one who sat in the middle. “I am the one who protects New Orleans. Take the city off your list to clean of vampires or we shall see each other again.”

She watched as he glanced left then right, knowing he would test her. She started a low chant of goddess names as he hit her with his powers, the other two adding with his. She lowered her head, let it fill her body, little sharp pains as it stretch her skin. If she had been human she would of dies, her heart stopped with all the energy going into her. She felt a last surge of power, lost her footing and went down on her knees.

She thought of her mate, of her friends she needed to protected. And she remember the man who’s body she was holding back at the warehouses. She closed her eyes, feeling the power of the others attacking her own, and moved her free hand to the stomach wound. She pulled out the stake and reached in with her hand to his body. The blood touched her skin and she found what she was missing.

Her energy increased, growing as the blood from his body disappeared into her hand. She let his dead body fall to the floor, her shield keeping him at her feet. A small stream of blood rose from his wound, his eyes, his ears, mouth, the spilled blood from the floor even, to her open hands. She rose from the floor, looking down at her pale hands, knowing it was time to finish this.

She lowered her head, hands turned outward in front of her to take the power they was sending to tear at her own, draining them. When she knew she could take no more she looked up and sent it out of her eyes. The two men on the sides fell to the floor, stun to have their own weapon used against them. They started to cough, gag, gripping at their chest. The one in the center sat back in his chair, hiding his pain but she knew he felt it as well.

“Leave New Orleans and never come back.” she spoke in a deep voice unlike her own. The man in the center spoke weakly. “I will tell the hunter we will not protect them if they do.” It was all they could promise her. She stop the flow of energy, shocked at how that strain had empty her. But she would never let it be seen. When a flash of her mate laying on the table, tubes taking his blood from his body… she picked the man on the right and caught him in a circle of energy. He tried to get out, slapping at it with what little power he had left, even pushing at the invisible wall with his hands. She covered him, seeing its glow, then gave the command to the air. “The power of Air I ask that you leave this space.” The two other men watched as the third suffocated inside the circle of her power, trying to break it with feeble attempts.

As the last breath left his lungs she drop the circle and he landed on the floor dead. “That is for draining my Prince and my mate.” She waited but the other two said nothing, keep their powers to themselves. She pictured in her mind traveling in a tunnel back to her body, back to the room she had been in, and came back with a sharp slap of pain all over her body. She could not stay standing and fell to the floor, giving in to her body’s need for sleep of the undead.

Onyx ran into the room minutes later, the battle all but over now. She took the scene in and went to the Prince, pulling the tubes from her body. She called Marlena’s and Albert’s name but they did not answer her. She went to Sharron as three other vampires ran into the room that she trusted. “Get them out of here. Take them back to the hotel.” She watched as they where taken, hearing in the background the swat team yelling as they started to check for any hunter left alive.

She saw the container of blood- seeing it held little of the vampires blood. She prayed that they would be alright and wonder what happen to Sharron. She bent down and looked at the man who had been at Sharron’s feet and he was white. She pulled his wrist up to her mouth and rip the skin open. No blood at all in the veins. A bloody stake lead her to the wound but no bite wounds?

She looked up as more vampires and ghouls came into the room. “Let’s start a room by room search. I want anything they left behind- computer, GPS off the vehicles, cell phones…anything. Start searching the bodies.” As they left the room she walked back to the container of blood and sealed it, taking it with her.
